Our Philosophy and Mission

The Whole Self Center’s philosophy suggests that every human being is more than a body with a brain. When caring for a child – a whole person - we are experiencing the creative spirit present in that child & in ourselves.

    • As we remain interested in exploring creative possibilities for the individual in the moment, we are more open to experiencing something new, such as developing a valuable skill we never knew or thought was possible.
    • In this way, we are less likely to stay stuck in repeating our old, inhibiting habits & behaviors.
    • By living this understanding with individuals with autism, we continue to become better able to respect & support children for who they already are, deserving of love & attention simply for being.

Policies – General

Important Policies that ALL Whole Self Center Families and Employees Need to Understand

  1. We Must Have Your Child’s Autism Waiver Plan of Care:  You will need to ask the service coordinator to send a copy of the updated Plan of Care that includes The WSC as your service provider to our office.  Please understand that we CANNOT begin services with your family until we have received an updated copy of the Plan of Care.  In addition, you need to contact your Service Coordinator whenever you decide to make changes in the number of service hours we provide to your family so that your Service Coordinator can send us an addendum to your child’s Plan of Care.

  1. WSC recruits potential IISS Technicians based on their qualifications, experience working with children and youth with autism, and their geographic proximity to families.  Families are asked to interview technicians that we send to them, and they decide if the technician matches their family’s needs.  The family is always able to request a different technician, but they are encouraged to work carefully with the WSC administration and the Family Consultant to make an attempt to resolve any conflicts or concerns before choosing to ask for a replacement.

  1. WSC Employees cannot begin working with their assigned clients until they attend and complete the hiring orientation, submit all their personnel materials, and a background check is initiated/submitted.
  1. WSC Employees may not be able to return to work if they have been asked to deliver certain administrative documents to the office but have not done so. These documents include, but are not limited to: required information for their personnel file, Disciplinary Action forms, session note documentation on The Whole Self Monitoring System, and verified Electronic Signatures which are used to indicate the number of service hours provided. Both the families and the employees will be notified (1) when the employee cannot return to work and (2) when the employee can return to work.

  1. WSC employees are employed by The Whole Self Center NOT the families; therefore, WSC is responsible for the behavior of the employee according to the specifications of their Job Description and the restrictions of our Professional liability insurance.
  1. WSC employees are required to have valid car insurance.   Employees who intend to transport their assigned client(s) are required to have the following coverage: $100,000.00 per injury and $300,000.00 per accident liability insurance in order to be associated with WSC’s Hired, Non-Owned Vehicle Insurance Policy.

  1. WSC Employees and Families must adhere to the WSC Transportation Policies in order to allow employees to transport clients.
